Totterdown is thought to originate from the trade users that used to totter down the hills to the market. Vibrant, colourful and full of character, these are the words which describe this desirable location. Best known for the steepest residential hill in Europe, Vale Street – which can be seen from some distance! Built in the mid to late 19th century, to house the workers from the nearby railway industry. In the 1960’s, the heart of Totterdown was demolished in anticipation of building an inner circuit around the city centre, however this was never built. Since then, the residence and businesses have fought to build back up the hub, what was once there.

Totterdown has a real mix of residence and becoming a popular area by the second. In 2016 it was named the 5th hippest place to live in the UK by the Times newspaper. With so many local shops and activities, the Totterdown area is one of the best locations to live due to the diversity in properties that are up for grabs whether you want an old Victorian property which provides beautiful period features or a wide range of converted flats, Totterdown can provide this. Being in walking distance to Bristol Temple Meads and the City Centre can also be a contributing factor to making a decision when looking at properties in Totterdown
