Situated on the south bank of the River Avon, Southville consists of houses that were built in the late 19th and early 20th century. They were originally built for the use of workers in the Bristol coal mining industry or the tobacco factories of W. D & H.O. the Guardian calls Southville “The Lower Clifton” due to its prices in comparison to Clifton when since the late 90s when the prices in Clifton rose people have been opting for Southville due to the fact that it is only a 10-15 minute walk from the centre and Bristol temple meads being a 20 minute walk.
