The waterfront has always been the heart of our city. The river was modified into docks to be used by both sailors and merchants who would trade goods and set sails for voyages of discovery in the New World. By the 14th century, the city was trading all sorts of goods with Ireland, Spain, Portugal and Iceland – from Woollen Cloth to Slaves! And in 1809, the floating harbour was built due to the overcrowding of ships.

Nowadays, Bristol's Harbourside is an attractive, mostly modern development filled with trendy apartments, vibrant shops, top restaurants and excellent nightlife. Why, there even festivals such as the Bristol Harbour Festival celebrating the city’s maritime heritage and Grillstock Festival on your doorstep!
